About this site

Hi, I'm Hof.

I am a husband, a father, a boss, a friend…but I don't like to think of myself as a noun. Instead I like to practice thinking of myself as a verb. This helps me remain rooted in the present and yet also becoming - learning as I go.

I like to think and learn by writing.

This means that EVERYTHING on this blog is a work in process. An opportunity for me to think and learn over time. There will be mistakes. More opportunities to learn.

The content is largely UNEDITED. I am prioritizing publishing here, not polishing. This is a way for me to build a habit of writing and get better at it over time.

I just have to say, all of this makes me feel quite vulnerable. I don't like making mistakes, especially not publicly. Also I find it keeps me stuck in my head, because I can just endlessly ruminate on a topic, to figure it out. I might get to an insight or not, but I lose the journey to it.

All of this has kept me from sharing my thoughts, and I have a strong impulse to share. I think there might be a win-win for myself and whoever ends up reading this (if anyone).

So to summarise: Why am I doing this?

  1. To learn!
  2. To push myself in creating more usable content (and not just half-baked notes that never gets reviewed). I would really love to get my thoughts published as a book that my kids could read one day. This is a way for me to do it.
  3. To practice vulnerability and authenticity.
